Position Summary:
Job Summary
The position is a part-time position that reports to the Women's Basketball Head Coach.
Specific Responsibilities
- Assisting in recruiting quality student-athletes in concert
with the mission of the University.
- Assisting in developing and maintaining positive team culture
and chemistry.
- Assisting in mentoring and counseling
student-athletes.
- Assisting in planning and conducting practices.
- Assisting in scouting opponents and developing game
strategies.
- Developing and maintaining familiarity with applicable
University, Landmark Conference, and NCAA regulations.
- Representing the WBB program, River Hawk athletics, and
Susquehanna University in a positive and professional
manor.
- Game day responsibilities.
Required Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Deep understanding of the game of Basketball; Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to build strong collaborative relationships. Requires ability to multi-task and attend to detail. Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work with current students and parents, prospective students and parents, and staff and faculty in a professional manner. Ability to use technology and equipment specific to the sport.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree with no experience OR three years of coaching/playing experience required.
Additional Requirements
This position requires a valid driver’s license, the ability to drive and qualify under the university’s insurance carrier when driving a university and/or leased vehicle. CPR, AED and First Aid certification is preferred.
Physical Demand
Must possess the physical stamina to effectively coach the sport. Position requires the ability to move about the campus. Position requires the ability to talk and to hear instruction. Position requires manual dexterity and the ability to use fingers, hands, and arms to feel, handle, and reach. Position requires walking and occasional stooping, crouching, and bending. Position requires occasional lifting and pushing. Talking: Frequently convey detailed or important instructions and ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly. Working conditions are indoors.
