The mission of the Office of Student Transitions and Family Programs is to provide incoming students and their families with a set of common shared experiences and information to set the tone for student academic success, personal growth, leadership development, student responsibility, and meaningful connections. This area will also work to enhance the student learning experience at UNC Asheville through ongoing and newly emerging programs, initiatives and responsibilities that support Orientation, Parent Programs, Transfer Programs and Veterans Programs. By intentionally engaging students in interactive and diverse opportunities, the Assistant Director position is dedicated to facilitating the students' transition to university life. The Assistant Director works collaboratively with the Director of Student Transitions and Family Programs to deliver programs and services to support our students transitioning to college. The Assistant Director will manage programmatic and outreach activities within the Office of Student Transitions and Family Programs, and work to develop new programming and enhancements as needed for the department. The employee serves as the main program contact, and is responsible for ongoing development of Extended Orientation activities and the Blue Crew student staff. The employee will have responsibility for the development of a newly emerging sophomore experience program. This position also oversees the student staff managing the office, and communicates and interprets program policy and procedures. The Assistant Director also provides customer service to students, parents, families and other campus constituents. The Assistant Director helps maintain business accounts and records.
