The Department of Psychology at Northern Illinois University ( NIU ) announces an opening for Director of the Psychological Services Center. NIU is a doctoral-granting public institution that enrolls more than 16,000 students, with a diverse undergraduate population. Serving as the training clinic for graduate students in the Clinical PhD program and the School Psychology SSP and PhD programs, the Psychological Services Center provides psychological assessment and evidence-based outpatient therapy services for individuals and families. The Psychological Services Center serves a diverse range of clients from young children to older adults and a mix of university students/staff and members of the broader community. The Psychological Services Center is a 4000+ square-foot facility connected to the psychology building that includes ample office space and therapy/assessment rooms, a graduate student work area, a newly acquired electronic records management system, telehealth capabilities, and digital audiovisual system for viewing and recording sessions.
Northern Illinois University’s Psychology Department is in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and includes 24 full-time faculty members. The department offers a Specialist degree in School Psychology and Ph.D. degrees in Clinical Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Industrial-Organizational Psychology, Neuroscience and Behavior, School Psychology, and Social Psychology. The clinical program has been continually accredited by APA since 1972 and adheres to a scientist-practitioner model of training. While all students gain training in behavioral and cognitive-behavioral approaches, students also have the opportunity pursue a focus in child clinical psychology/developmental psychopathology or trauma psychology. The APA accredited and NASP -approved school psychology programs train students who go on to become educationally licensed school psychologists and professionally licensed psychologists.
Duties and Responsibilities (generally)
• Oversee day-to-day operations of the clinic, including crisis management
• Work collaboratively with the director of clinical training ( DCT ), school psychology program director, and clinical and school psychology program faculty to offer exceptional applied training for graduate students
• Work with the program directors to identify and develop external practicum training experiences for students
• Provide supervision for students working within the Psychological Services Center and those at external sites through contracts with local agencies
• Ensure that issues of diversity and inclusion are addressed in all clinic activities
• Manage and oversee clinic budget
• Supervise staff (Office Manager and graduate student clinic assistants)
• Teach the pre-practicum course to the clinical students each year
Minimum Required Qualifications for this position
• Doctorate in Clinical, Counseling or School Psychology, preferably from an APA -accredited program
• Licensed or license-eligible in the state of Illinois
• Demonstrated expertise in evidence-based intervention and psychological assessment
• Demonstrated experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds, and a commitment to working toward equity and inclusion.
• Demonstrated experience in clinical supervision
• Demonstrative administrative experience

The ability to liaise with administration (including those of other campus clinics and departments) is also necessary.
Minimum Pay Rate (Hourly or Monthly)
$7,083.34/month ($85,000.08 annually)

Actual hiring rate is commensurate with experience, education, and internal equity; position includes a robust benefits package to eligible applicants.
