Ca’ Foscari is looking for a researcher in the area of Language and translation - English with a cutting edge research profile. The researcher should also have a strong commitment to teaching new generations of students so that they can become game-changers in their own fields and make a difference in the world.

Teaching: the researcher is expected to carry out frontal teaching activities pertaining to the Academic Discipline “Language and Translation – English”. The researcher will be required to teach English from a variety of perspectives (phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, lexical, pragmatics, translation). In addition, the researcher will teach English with particular attention to intercultural communication in the field of tourism and services to guests and clients.

Research: the researcher will have to carry out a valuable research activity through publications and by taking part in national and international conferences and research teams; furthermore he is expected to apply for competitively awarded research grants or to take part in research teams. The research activity will concern phonological, grammatical, lexical and discursive aspects, as well as translation studies and the evolution of English as a global language, from a theoretical and applied point of view, in line with the Academic Discipline ‘Language and Translation – English’.

The position will be hosted in the Department of Linguistics and Comparative Cultural Studies. The Department has recently received a “Department of Excellence” Award by the Italian Ministry of Education, Universities and Research. The Excellence Award has allowed the Department to Develop state of the art laboratory facilities to pursue the theoretical and empirical study of linguistic and cultural diversity.

The Department is unique in its multidisciplinary approach to language, literature and culture, with fertile exchanges between linguistic, literary, historical and political approaches and an international outlook essential to a critical understanding of global society.

The Department actively pursues internationalization, activating joint programmes, Erasmus exchange periods, internships abroad, encouraging publication in international journals and inviting many Visiting Scholars and Professors.
