Job Summary/Basic Function

Adjunct Faculty Member will be responsible for teaching courses as assigned. Faculty will take advantage of teaching moments and opportunities through the use of weekly announcements and emails. The professors will also carry out various administrative tasks as dictated to them by their Instructional Mentor, the Faculty Support Coordinator, the Online Chair, or the Associate Dean. These administrative tasks will include items such as roster verification, reporting items, and timely submission of final grades.
The typical responsibilities for this opportunity include the following:
- Attend online training session hosted by the Director of Student Teaching at the beginning of the semester
- Maintain communication with the Field Director
- Weekly communication with cooperating teachers and on-site supervisors who are working with the student teachers in their placements

- Conduct one virtual meeting per placement with the cooperating teachers and on-site supervisors
- Adhere to LUO’s communication policy (respond to student’s email within 36 hours)
- Adhere to LUO’s grading policy (within 6 days); there are weekly student teaching course assignments in Blackboard and/or LiveText
-Review lesson plans, journals, and other course assignments

- Review a videotaped lesson for each student teacher as this is the way the course professor completes one formal observation of each student teacher
- Collaborate with the cooperating teacher and the on-site supervisor regarding student teacher performance issues that may arise during the placement
- Notify the Director of Student Teaching if any problems arise with a student teacher’s performance.
- Prompt, consistent communication with the student teacher to include Canvas interaction, email, phone calls, online meetings, etc.
- And other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

- Current state teaching license
- Master’s degree or higher
- Minimum of three years of classroom teaching experience in the K-12 school setting
- Full doctrinal compatibility with Liberty University
- Degree must be from an institution accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
- Superior interpersonal, customer service, presentation, and communication skills required.
- Creative, innovative, and problem solving skills required.
- Proven organizational skills and ability to complete assignments timely and accurately with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency in MS Office, Canvas, and the Internet.
- Able to obtain and maintain licenses if applicable as required by state or accrediting commissions.
- Demonstrated strengths in teaching at the college level is essential.
