About the Position
The Digital Media Manager will develop and manage
content for digital marketing channels, primarily social media and
web; work closely with and advise departments, offices, and
stakeholders on creating compelling digital content for external
audiences; ensure that user- generated content is of high quality
and meets style guide and graphic standards as determined by the
Office of Public Affairs and Communications; and supervise student
workers.
What You'll
Do
Social Media Management (60%)
- Plans and implements content for Lewis & Clark’s institutional social media (currently Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube).
- Track social media content on a comprehensive calendar.
- Create original text and multimedia (video, audio, photo) for use in digital media (primarily social media and throughout the Lewis & Clark website)
- Track and interpret social media and web analytics.
- Advise departments and offices on digital media strategy and content.
- Ensure optimized placement of content throughout digital media channels.
- Manages, at minimum, two student workers who generate content for the web and/or social media.
- Encourage and build mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among workers.
- Build and work with diverse teams effectively.
- Collaborate with offices and departments on website refresh and content updates, ensuring that key pages are up-to-date and engaging.
- Manage content strategy for top-level institutional pages (undergrad, graduate, law), including home pages.
- Support the creation and proliferation of high-quality user-generated content throughout the website.
- Edit digital content according to best practices for web and adherence to the style guide and graphics standards set out by the Office of Public Affairs and Communications.
- Bachelor's Degree, preferred disciplines include communications, journalism, or English.
- 2 years experience working with a robust content management system (CMS).
- 2 years experience posting and managing content on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, and YouTube, including understanding of analytics and ad creation/management.
- Experience with social media content planning and development.
- Commitment to staying on top of digital media trends and advising on how Lewis & Clark College can and should use emerging platforms.
- Experience throughout the content-creation process: identifying story, developing narrative or storyboard, conducting interviews, recording audio and video, capturing photos, and editing text and digital material.
- In-depth knowledge of trends and best practices in multimedia content creation, including ADA requirements.
- Willingness to mentor and collaborate with student content producers.
- Proficiency in video and audio editing software.
- Fundamental understanding of how to write for the web and how best to display content online.
- Exceptional written and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Understanding of higher education trends.
- Previous web editing/writing experience.
