  Job Summary

The Financial Analyst is responsible for providing insightful financial information as part of the financial planning processes of the College. It supports the development, consolidation and maintenance of budget and forecast data. The position works with staff and faculty throughout the institution. Ultimately, the work of this position supports the vision and mission of the College.

 

Essential Functions

 

Reporting (40%)

  • Develop and maintain internal financial reporting at the department, division and institutional level.

  • Extract, manipulate, and summarize large amounts of data.

 

Analysis (20%)

  • Monitor variances in department, division, and institutional budgets.

  • Perform financial analyses by collecting, evaluating, and interpreting data.

  • Make recommendations as needed.

 

Business Partnering (20%)

  • Provide ongoing support to budget holders across the institution in varying functions and management levels.

  • Independently research and resolve questions.

  • Communicate and provide training with new budget managers.

  • Configure and administer budget applications.

 

Budget Development (20%)

  • Assist in development and consolidation of the annual operating budget and interim forecast updates.

  • Guide budget holders in development of data informed budgets that align with institutional goals.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 5 years experience (primary function) in finance and/or accounting

  • 3 years experience in developing financial reports

  • 3 years experience developing and monitoring budgets

  • 3 years experience performing variance analysis

  • Knowledge of GAAP

  • Advanced Excel skills

  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Google Suite

  • Experience with reporting tools (Entrinsik Informer or others)

  • Ability to extract, manipulate, and summarize large data sets

  • Attention to detail

  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative in researching issues and proposing solutions

  • Experience building relationships across multiple functions and management levels

  • Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality

  • Appreciation for working in a diverse work environment

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree

  • 7 years experience in accounting, reporting, and/or budget development

  • Familiarity with Colleague

  • Familiarity with Workday

     

 Payrate

  • Commensurate with Experience

 

Schedule

  • 37.5 hrs/week
