HCA Healthcare seeks a dynamic and accomplished executive to serve as the next Division Vice President (DVP), Graduate Medical Education (GME) for the Capital Division based in Richmond, Virginia. The DVP, GME will be responsible for providing leadership, strategic planning and management spanning across all GME within the Capital Division and ensuring that residents and fellows are capable of providing high quality, patient centered medical care.

The DVP will be recognized as the internal and external champion for the GME mission for HCA and will promote HCA GME in stature and performance within the Capital Division. He/She will provide the leadership for bringing infrastructure and systems together that provide education excellence and outstanding culture for GME, which positively influences HCA quality, best practices and physician integration.

HCA Healthcare is the largest sponsor of graduate medical education in the nation. HCA Healthcare currently has 270+ residencies and fellowships, at 58 teaching hospitals, in 16 states with 5,000+ residents and fellows. The Capital Division currently has 14 GME programs, 12 residency programs and 2 fellowship programs with 230+ residents and fellows within 3 teaching hospitals:

  • LewisGale Medical Center located in Salem, Virginia
  • LewisGale Hospital- Montgomery located in Blacksburg, VA
  • Portsmouth Regional Hospital located in Portsmouth, New Hampshire

Reporting into the Corporate Vice President of Graduate Medical Education, the DVP will be strategic but also have the technical knowledge involved in optimizing GME operations in collaboration with GME leadership, program directors, hospital leaders and executives whose focus is on clinical program excellence. The successful candidate will have either a graduate degree in business administration, healthcare administration, management or related field and/or a medical degree from an accredited institution and board certification in an appropriate specialty.
