Position Summary 

The Instructional Multimedia Developer is a full-time, 12-month, exempt staff position as a member of the Teaching and Learning Services (TLS) team. This position provides development, revision, and support of online, hybrid and HyFlex courses across the curriculum working directly with faculty to provide pedagogical and technological support to effectively deliver instruction to students.  

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree in instructional design, instructional technology, or a related area  
  • Minimum of two years of experience with online course design (with adaptation of traditional instruction features to online delivery), educational technology, or related field such as the following:  
  • Experience with online pedagogy and application of instructional technology  
  • Demonstrated ability working with learning management/online learning platforms (i.e. Canvas), web conferencing (such as Zoom), social networking, problem-based learning, case studies, learner analytics, learner interactivity, HTML, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint  
  • Experience working with learning management systems  
  • Video production experience (i.e. Adobe Premiere, iMovie, GarageBand)  
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and accurately, managing workflow and projects and those of subordinates  
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team, including active participation  
  • Excellent oral, written, interpersonal communication, and organizational skills  
  • Design, coordinate and deliver text, graphics, video, sound, and/or interactive web elements for online learning courses and programs  
  • Desktop publishing experience (i.e. Adobe Creative Cloud & Microsoft Office 360 software suites)  
  • Ability to spend long periods of “screen time” working online but in order to meet deadlines  
  • Ability to clearly communicate verbally, read, write, see and hear to perform  

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience in HTML and the use of HTML editors  
  • Experience in an education and/or higher education environment  
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Universal Design principles for accessibility  
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0  
  • Experience in exploring, evaluating and experimenting with new learning techniques and technologies  

Major Responsibilities 

  • Work with faculty on creating and managing image, video, audio, and interactive media assets for academic and instructional use, as well as facilitate captioning and transcription services  
  • Use current academic technologies – Padcasters, green screen, lightboard, drone, 360 imaging, 3D modeling, XR, etc. – to create innovative course content with faculty  
  • Build and maintain relationships within the academic community, demonstrating responsiveness, professionalism and enthusiasm for innovative instructional design  
  • Collaborate with TLS colleagues on short- and long-term projects aligned with college and team goals to provide high-quality learning experiences  
  • Create and oversee the production of scripts, templates, and storyboards during the course development process  
  • Develop and/or maintains resources such as needs analyses, storyboards, tutorials, reference material, content resources, templates, and tools for instructional development  
  • Lead professional development opportunities for faculty on creating multimedia course content  
  • Create self-paced learning resources for online learning using Adobe Captivate  
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities  
  • Maintain knowledge and awareness of digital accessibility including the American with Disabilities Act and Section 508  
  • Produce and remediates digitally accessible materials in accordance with FLC standards  
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Compensation  

Salary is $53,000 per year plus a comprehensive benefits package.
