The University of Denver's Morgridge College of Education (MCE) invites applications for a one-year, nine-month Visiting Assistant Professor of Practice in the Research Methods & Statistics Program in the Department of Research Methods & Information Science. This is a benefited, full-time, one-year visiting appointment (non-tenure track) for the 2021-2022 academic year.

Position Summary

The Research Methods & Statistics Programs (RMS) philosophy and mission are aligned with MCE to train global leaders who employ innovative and effective approaches to advance learning, development, health and wellness throughout the lifespan, and who promote educational and social equity. RMS provides the courses and experiences necessary to conduct and supervise cutting-edge social science research. Graduates with RMS degrees hold professional positions in testing and program evaluation companies, non-profit organizations, universities, school districts, and state and service agencies, among others. Essential Functions

The successful candidate will play a strong role in teaching and service during the academic year. As an RMS faculty member, the Visiting Assistant Professor of Practice will undertake specific responsibilities including teaching graduate courses (such as Correlation and Regression, Analysis of Variance, Multivariate Statistics, and Structural Equation Modeling), participating in academic and dissertation advising, and take on service responsibility to the program, department and college in MCE. The ideal candidate demonstrates experience and versatility in inclusive pedagogy. We are especially interested in qualified candidates who can contribute to diversity, equity and inclusion through their teaching, research, and service.

RMS faculty are active in research, pedagogy, and practice; hold leadership positions in professional organizations; regularly contribute scholarly work in their respective fields; and have a strong commitment to teaching, mentoring, and working in partnership with graduate students.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to or experience working with diverse populations.
  • Willingness to share expertise across units within MCE and open to interdisciplinary conversation.

Required Qualifications

  • Earned doctorate in research methods and statistics or a related field or will have completed such a degree by the September 1, 2021 start date.
  • An articulated teaching/research agenda with a focus on statistics and quantitative methodology.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Evidence of an excellent record of teaching graduate level research methods and statistics courses.
  • Evidence of an excellent record of teaching graduate level courses online.
  • Conference presentations and publication in appropriate journals.
  • Experience of advising and mentoring graduate students.

The salary grade for the position is UC.

Salary Range
The salary range for this position is $72,000 - $75,000.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
