Position Summary:

The University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center (UWCCC) and the Division of Hematology, Medical Oncology and Palliative Care, Department of Medicine at the University of Wisconsin is seeking applicants for a full-time, Associate or Full Professor (CHS) medical oncologist interested in leading our Bone Marrow Transplant clinical and translational research programs.

The UW Bone Marrow Adult Transplant Program performs more than 200 transplants annually, including both allogeneic and autologous transplants. In 2018, our program began CAR-T therapy for our adult patient population. Our program is a growing multidisciplinary team of transplant professionals, working together toward the goal of providing the best possible care for our patients. The candidate will help develop our strategic framework to build and support our BMT program, provide direct patient care, participate in academic teaching, and conduct clinical research at the UW Carbone Cancer Center.

Principal Duties:

Faculty and staff of the Department of Medicine value professionalism, patient-centeredness, compassion, respect, innovation, discovery, inclusion, diversity, teamwork, scholarship and stewardship. Duties include 60% direct patient care at UW Health's main campus, including ambulatory, inpatient and consult service attending; proactively supporting efforts to improve diversity in clinical trial participants; 20% protected time to develop and teach a research or education program and to engage in related scholarly activity, and 20% administrative time as the UW Health Medical Director for BMT. Additional leadership positions representing the division and/or UWCCC on state, regional or national committees may be available to appropriate candidates.

The Division of Hematology, Medical Oncology and Palliative Care is part of the Department of Medicine and the NCI-designated UW Carbone Comprehensive Cancer Center. The Division is active in all phases of cancer therapy development and evaluation.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

MD or DO or equivalent is required.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

- Clinical and research publications in hematological malignancy and bone marrow transplantation (BMT).
- Completion of an accredited fellowship training program in Medical Oncology with significant clinical experience in BMT.
- Candidates for associate or professor rank must meet criteria for appointment at rank per UW School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines.

License or Certificate:

Must be Board Eligible or Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine Certification in Medical Oncology. Candidate is required to have or be eligible for a Wisconsin Medical License.

Additional Information:

Total compensation targets AAMC benchmarks by rank.

This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial Caregiver Check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and then every four years.
