Computer Science Job Description
Job Summary
Conduct independent research with the focus aligned to Prof. Jamie Macbeth’s research programs in computer-based systems for natural language story generation and natural language understanding, and guide undergraduate researchers in carrying out related work.
Take appropriate actions to support a diverse workforce and participate in the College's efforts to create a respectful, inclusive, and welcoming work environment.
Essential Functions
Software engineering (60%)
· Programming in LISP, Scheme, HTML/CSS/JavaScript, C/C++
Literature review and writing (30%)
· Literature review of recently published relevant work
· Preparing archival publications
Synchronous, collaborative work (10%)
· Progress meetings with PI
· Collaboration and mentoring undergraduate students

Minimum Qualifications (knowledge, skills, education, experience, certifications, licenses)
Baccalaureate degree in computer science, electrical and computer engineering, or a closely related field is required.
Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications
M.S. or Ph.D. in computer science, electrical and computer engineering, or a closely related field is preferred.
Skills
Excellent written and oral communication. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with undergraduates. Desire to be a member of an interdisciplinary team and conduct research at a women’s liberal arts college. Experience programming in LISP, Scheme, HTML/CSS/JavaScript, C/C++ and general research skills.
