The Anthropology Department in the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University invites applications for a tenure track assistant professor of cultural anthropology. We are looking for expertise in migration, movement and resettlement; citizenship and urban environment; and language, culture and society. Annual teaching load will include an introductory cultural anthropology class. We are especially excited about someone who works on migration, movement, and citizenship and envision this individual as potentially offering courses for the Maxwell School’s International Relations programs as well as to teach the Maxwell School’s signature team-taught interdisciplinary courses. Area focus is open to South Asia, Latin America/Caribbean, as well as oceanic intersections in the Indian Ocean and/or Atlantic World.

Qualifications

Ph.D. in Anthropology is expected at time of appointment.

Job Specific Qualifications

Cultural Anthropologist. We are looking for expertise in migration, movement and resettlement; citizenship and urban environment; and language, culture and society. We are especially excited about someone who works on migration, movement, and citizenship and envision this individual as potentially offering courses for the Maxwell School’s International Relations programs as well as to teach the Maxwell School’s signature team-taught interdisciplinary courses. Responsibilities

The scholar will be expected to teach two courses per semester, maintain an active research program and serve on departmental and other committees.
