The Syracuse University Environmental Finance Center (SU- EFC ) is seeking a Program Associate (full-time benefits-eligible) to primarily assist with outreach and engagement related to environmental finance and resiliency programs the SU- EFC works on in EPA Region 2, or with other partners through the Environmental Finance Center Network ( EFCN ) and the Capacity Collaborative. This position would also support other organizational and programmatic communication needs. Specifically, the SU- EFC is seeking an individual who can assist with marketing and hosting in-person and web-based training programs, written communications, online-content development, research and evaluation, and other environmental outreach and engagement-related tasks. This position will also support program manager and coordinator staff to develop and implement new programs and funding sources to further the mission of the SU- EFC . Provide research, policy, and technical support for SU- EFC, with a particular focus on climate adaptation and resiliency, public water infrastructure, and watershed management. This position will be based in Syracuse, NY and mainly responsible for supporting programs in New York, southern New England, and Puerto Rico (PR), and program-related travel will be required.

Qualifications

Bachelors required in a relevant field (environmental science, communications, environmental studies and sustainability, social sciences, and public administration).

Two or more years of experience in any area of climate adaptation, resiliency, water resources management, environmental policy, or related work is preferred.

Job Specific Qualifications

Must have experience in website maintenance, proficiency with online communications and content development, and strong interpersonal skills.

Experience coordinating events, outreach, and educational programs related to environmental fields is highly desirable, as is working with communities, government officials and other stakeholders.

Experience using document design applications (for example, Adobe Creative Suite) and online applications for outreach and program evaluation (for example, ArcGIS Storymaps, collaboration and communications hubs, data analytics tools) is highly desirable.

Bi-lingual in Spanish and English is desirable.

Responsibilities

Create outreach and marketing communications:
Marketing of outreach and training events with email marketing and social media. Create, update, and maintain website posts and pages. Develop online applications for outreach, engagement to program audiences, and program evaluation. Prepare, write, and design reports, brochures, and outreach materials.
Support events, workshops and webinars

Host and facilitate training webinars and online conferences:
Assist with set-up, logistics, and delivery of workshops and meetings, including registration, note-taking. Communicate and coordinate with speakers, participants, and venues for events.

Technical assistance and research:
Support environmental infrastructure technical assistance development and delivery. Support the gathering and analyzing of qualitative and quantitative data during program delivery; for needs assessments, stakeholder engagement, and training evaluation. Assist research on climate, resiliency, water infrastructure, and workforce development topics for report development.

Data management:
Maintain databases for marketing, outreach, and program evaluation. Support events with transcribing and managing information. Managing continuing education credits.

Future program development:
Support grant writing, working with team members. Build existing relationships and explore new audiences for program delivery.
