Job Summary

The general nature of the job is to provide research support in the capacity of a research technician at a large-scale lab facility to maintain, schedule, and operate the facility in an efficient manner. The research involves setting up and conducting large-scale channelized flow experiments. It also involves directing undergraduate research assistants to help with daily tasks associated with the functioning of the facility
Provides direct technical support to researchers by maintaining, scheduling, and operating facilities and equipment; collecting and/or providing technical expertise on specimens/samples; and gathering/reporting data.

Essential Functions

Set up, install, and conduct all experimental tests related to active erosion/sediment control research
Collect pre, during, and post experimental data for all tests performed
Perform data entry from data collected and conduct simple data analyses
Assist in the development of testing protocols, data collection procedures, and testing reports
Schedule and manage temporary personnel and undergraduate assistants used for testing/maintenance/housekeeping purposes
Oversee laboratory analyses of water quality samples taken during experimental tests
Maintain all testing equipment and facility grounds
Ability to operate heavy equipment and machinery
