Position Primary Purpose and General Responsibilities

Coordinate classroom technology usage, particularly installation, maintenance and imaging of classroom computers; and including AV support, videoconferencing support, and classroom equipment maintenance. Provide on-call troubleshooting and support for classroom computer and AV systems, including presentation, videoconferencing and lecture recording systems. Encourage the development of instructional technology and classroom resource skills.

Minimum Hiring Standards

Demonstrated general knowledge of computing devices and operating systems, including desktop and laptop computers, tablets, smart phones, application servers and network infrastructure. Demonstrated general knowledge of desktop security best practices. Demonstrated general knowledge of audio-visual (AV) equipment, such as video projectors, cameras, microphones and sound systems, room-based lecture recording systems. Ability to diagnose and resolve common AV and presentation issues. Demonstrated general knowledge of videoconference and webconference systems. Demonstrated general knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, particularly Word and PowerPoint.. Strong technical and creative problem solving skills. Ability to apply knowledge and experience to create novel solutions when facing novel situations. Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with faculty, staff and students. Ability to explain complex technical concepts to audiences with varying levels of technology experience. Ability to quickly learn and apply sophisticated software applications and hardware configurations. Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. for a short distance. Ability to perform duties independently in a timely and punctual manner. Ability to collaborate as an effective member of a busy technology service team. Ability to perform duties in a diverse work environment with frequently shifting priorities.

Preferred Hiring Standards

COMPTIA A+ Certification
Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or closely related field
