Position Primary Purpose and General Responsibilities

Massey Cancer Center is seeking a Senior Manager/ Assistant Director of Training and Education will report into the Administrative Director of the Massey Cancer Center, Clinical Trials Office. In collaboration with the Massey Cancer Center, Clinical Trials Office leadership, the CTO department and group Heads, the Training and Education Assistant Director supports the growth and development of the Massey Cancer Center by achieving strategic objectives including overseeing multiple project activities related to training and education of clinical research staff and investigators. The Manager is responsible for assigned research infrastructure development, oversees projects, communicates status and improvement areas to leadership and works with leadership teams to plan, develop and implement new strategies. Ensures compliance with all federal and local agencies including the Food and Drug Administration ( FDA ) and local Institutional Review Board ( IRB ). This position develops, implements and maintain a comprehensive faculty and staff training program from onboarding of new employees through employee departure from the institution. The program will include a variety of topics for faculty and staff new to the institution or research, as well as more seasoned individuals. Training opportunity examples include the basics of clinical research, institutional policy and procedure training, audit preparation, developing sponsor relationships, and facilitating disease indication training for non-clinical staff.

Minimum Hiring Standards

-BA/BS degree or equivalent experience.
-10 years of experience in clinical research is required
-5 years minimum experience in area of research specialty.
-Demonstrated experience training and educating others combined with the ability to develop and implement comprehensive training, education and development programs.
-Ability to travel approximately 5%-10%
-Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU .

Preferred Hiring Standards

-Experience working in oncology therapeutic research and proven experience in developing effective training and education programs.
-10 years experience in research specialty.
- ACRP /SoCRA (or equivalent) certification
