Position Primary Purpose and General Responsibilities

The purpose of this position is to support the Principle Investigator (PI) by conducting research procedures and performing technical duties that support research efforts for laboratory administration, data collection, and animal care.

Minimum Hiring Standards

Individual needs knowledge of anatomy and neurobiology; data collection and analysis; and animal health and welfare. Must be able to work with laboratory rats and mice; to apply university and federal policies and procedures regarding humane handling, treatment, and monitoring of laboratory rodents; to perform laboratory techniques such as accurate mixing of and preparation of solutions, processing brain tissue samples; to place lab supply orders; store and archive computer files containing laboratory data; to maintain accurate records of daily procedures; to work cooperatively with other scientists and technicians in the completion of research projects. In addition, will need strong computer, interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Bachelor’s degree in science or related field desired with lab work experience.
