This research laboratory technician position will support the principal investigator with general laboratory assistance including specific research projects and overall operations of the laboratory. The technician will assist with studies involving molecular mechanisms associated with the SPAG17 gene. This is a grant-funded position.

Required Qualifications

Prior lab experience required. Previous experience with standard molecular biological techniques such as RNA and DNA isolation, qPCR, Western blots, and immunofluorescence staining. Experience with rodent animal handling. Good organizational skills necessary. Must have ability to troubleshoot problems and ability to interpret data. Must interact well with colleagues. Minimal computer skills necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s or MS degree in biological sciences. Priority will be given to individuals with demonstrated experience with one or more of the following: previous laboratory experience in general cell and molecular biology and biochemical laboratory techniques, including cell culture, DNA /protein quantitation, PCR, immunoblotting and mouse handling.
