Position Information Working Title:  University Sustainability Coordinator
UW System Title:  Administrative Program Specialist  Essential Job Functions

This position reports to the Cabinet Liaison for Internal Affairs and has a dotted line to the Director of the Office of Sustainability and will provide leadership to the university in its sustainability practices in recognition of the long-standing environmental focus and history of UW-Green Bay with its reputation as the original “Eco-U.” At UW-Green Bay, sustainability is a core strategic priority. This position is primarily responsible for coordinating, and in some cases managing campus-wide sustainability initiatives with emphasis on the continuing integration of sustainability in the campus culture and all aspects of campus activities at all four campus locations. This person will be very active in engaging with the campus community as an advocate for improved sustainability performance and lowered environmental impact through strategic planning, project implementation, research, reporting, communication and public presentations. This position will work closely with the Sustainability Committee. 

This position includes the following responsibilities:

  • In collaboration with the Director of the Office of Sustainability and the Sustainability Committee, develop a university climate action plan with clearly defined action steps toward achieving carbon neutrality on our campuses.
  • Guide the implementation of the climate action plan by setting milestones and interim deadlines for achieving our carbon neutrality goal.
  • Prepare annual greenhouse gas inventory and identify near-term opportunities for greenhouse gas reduction.
  • Identify additional mechanisms and indicators to track our progress.
  • Prepare progress reports and presentations for key stakeholders.
  • In collaboration with the Director of the Office of Sustainability and the Sustainability Committee, develop and implement a strategic plan for additional, prioritized sustainability efforts.
  • Engage with campus leadership to infuse sustainability in the educational experiences of faculty, staff, and students.
  • Support and look for ways to expand sustainability partnerships across the four campus locations, the local communities we serve, the Northeast Wisconsin region, and beyond.
  • Assist with collecting information and submitting required documents for accreditation under the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) Sustainability Tracking Assessment and Rating System (STARS) program.
  • Assist with meeting the requirements as a signatory to Second Nature.
  • Provide administrative support for campus sustainability activities and programs including but not limited to Earth Day, the Sustainable Development Goals Launch, and our Land-Based Teaching Center.
Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree at time of application 
  • 2 years of relevant experience in sustainability-related areas 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master's degree 
  • Bilingual, preferably in Spanish, Hmong, Somali, or Oneida
  • Sustainability-related leadership experience in a similar university, industry, or other multi-facility environment 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of land use techniques, pedestrian and transportation planning 
  • Familiarity with State regulatory compliance requirements related to public facilities 
  • Demonstrated experience in supporting organizational efforts to create and nurture a diverse and inclusive community

Conditions Of Appointment

Occasional travel to the additional campus locations will be necessary. 

Position is a full-time, three (3) year Academic Staff appointment.  Official transcripts of the highest degree achieved will be required of finalist(s). A criminal conviction investigation will be conducted on the finalist(s). Salary

Salary range of $55,000-$65,000.

This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
