Position Summary
The Program Coordinator for Academic Residential and Research Initiatives (PCARRI) contributes to the system-wide coordination and administration of academic initiatives in the residence halls. This position also plays a key role in maintaining collaborations with partners across campus. The Program Coordinator is responsible for unit, department, and divisional support related to their functional area. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Academic Residential and Research Initiatives (ADARRI) and will have oversight of student employees. The PCARRI serves on the Academic Residential and Research Initiatives (ARRI) team within Residence Life overseen by the Assistant Vice Provost for Undergraduate Research and Distinguished Scholarships (AVPURDS) and Director of Academic Residential and Research Initiatives (DARRI). In concert with the ARRI team, the PCARRI will work closely with the Division of Undergraduate Education and Student Success (UESS) to support the First-Year Experience (FYE) strategic partnership and residential summer bridge programs, supplemental instruction, tutoring, advising, and undergraduate research.

The Program Coordinator serves as the primary Residence Life contact for the Academic Residential and Research Initiatives (ARRI) area, assumes a central role in sustaining existing academic programs and in the implementation of new initiatives within the residence halls including Academic Residential Communities (ARCs), Residential Communities (RCs), Faculty in Residence (FIRs), Faculty Fellows (FF), etc. The Program Coordinator provides direct support to event coordination, course and meeting scheduling, project management, data collection, communications, and ongoing annual operational processes such as Academic Residential Community (ARC/RC) admissions and enrollment, ARC/RC RA hiring and selection, collection of ARC seminar syllabi each term, and Memoranda of Understanding.

The Program Coordinator also has opportunities to develop new organizational processes, serve on departmental and campus-wide committees and participate in developing and administering program-based assessment. They represent their functional area at recruitment and orientation events, and utilize a variety of educational technologies and web-based data management systems.

The Program Coordinator will serve on the Academic Residential Community Council and provide administrative support with the ARC proposal and funding request processes.

The Program Coordinator assumes a central role supporting the ADARRI with the ongoing development and integration of the Residential Curricular Model with academic initiatives and partnerships.

Minimum Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree OR an equivalent amount of experience, training, or education
  • One year of full-time or two years of part-time work experience in higher education, residence life, undergraduate education, student life, or related field

    Professional Competencies
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Programs
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with colleagues
  • Ability to assess and meet the needs of a wide variety of people while recognizing the needs of underrepresented and underserved students at the University of Oregon

    Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with student leadership roles (e.g. Resident Assistants, clubs) and/or student employees
  • Experience with residence life
  • Experience with Academic Initiatives in the Residence Hall environment
  • Proficiency with data management (e.g. Qualtrics, Navigate, Banner, Excel)
  • Experience with quantitative or qualitative assessment
  • Proficiency with website creation or administration, Drupal, or Wordpress
  • Experience with budget management and financial record keeping
  • Experience with event planning and management
  • Experience serving traditionally underrepresented and underserved students
  • Experience participating in student recruitment and yield events
  • Experience collaborating with faculty on curriculum and co-curriculum development
