Title IX and Compliance Officer

Western New England University is seeking a compliance focused, strategic leader to step into the newly created role of Title IX and Compliance Officer. This position requires a candidate who is a clear communicator, values diversity, equity and inclusion, and will be accessible, visible and approachable to all campus constituents.

The Title IX and Compliance Officer reports to and receives administrative supervision from the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO). This position functions independently within the guidelines of the University’s personnel policies and state and federal regulations and will coordinate with all appropriate department heads across the Institution.         

The Title IX and Compliance Officer will be responsible for leading and supporting activities of compliance with state and federal regulations prohibiting discrimination or otherwise designed to assure equitable education and employment environments. These include but are not limited to Title IX of the Federal Education Amendments of 1972, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act.

Qualifications:  A Bachelor’s degree is required; a Master’s Degree in a related field or J.D. is strongly preferred.  At least five (5) years of experience in a related field is required.  Experience in investigating allegations of sexual misconduct and other forms of harassment and discrimination is required.  Must have a demonstrated understanding of Title IX, VAWA, Campus SaVE, Clery Act regulations and the Civil Rights Act.  Experience in presenting educational and training programs is essential.
