Teachers College, Columbia University seeks a Bruce S. Goldberg postdoctoral fellow for two years in the International and Comparative Education program. The program seeks candidates whose scholarly work is related to education in conflict and post-conflict contexts, with a particular emphasis on youth and peacebuilding/transitional justice. The postdoctoral scholar will work under the mentorship of Professor S. Garnett Russell.
The fellowship includes a $65,000 annual salary, $5,000 for research, and other benefits afforded to full-time professional employees (e.g. health insurance; see here for more details). Appointment is for a two-year period, starting in September 2021 with required review after first year.
The start date is negotiable and can fall between September 1- October 1, 2021.
Roles & Responsibilities
This fellowship provides the fellow with the opportunity to pursue independent research on a topic related to education, conflict, peacebuilding, and youth. The Goldberg Postdoctoral Fellow will receive mentorship from the faculty sponsor and will have the chance to mentor graduate students and engage in other aspects of academic life at Teachers College and Columbia University more broadly. There may also be opportunities to co-author publications and presentations, to assist with grant writing, and to teach a course in the program. The fellow is expected to be an active participant in the scholarly community at Teachers College.
The post-doctoral fellow will also have the opportunity to participate in a mixed-methods research study on education and peacebuilding in Colombia. During this project, the fellow may have the opportunity to travel (occasionally) to the field to participate in data collection activities; train and supervise graduate research assistants; and co-author publications based on research findings.
