Position Summary:

The University of Wisconsin Biotechnology Center (UWBC) is a synergistic blend of core service facilities, research, and outreach activities. The Bioinformatics Resource Center (BRC), one of UWBC core facilities, is seeking to add a highly self-motivated individual to our team. This individual will be responsible for working with project personnel to implement bioinformatics and statistical methods for a myriad of project types; the primary focus of which will revolve around RNA sequencing analysis with specific emphasis toward single-cell analysis. This will involve scripting, exploration of parameter selections, summarizing large data in tabular and graphical formats, and providing detailed documentation of all methods used. This individual will work closely with a collaborative group to develop robust workflows that can be efficiently applied to similar projects. Many aspects of these analyses are computationally intensive requiring high-throughput infrastructure available at the BRC.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Masters in Computational Biology or a related field, including biological sciences or statistics.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Two years of statistics or bioinformatics experience working with the analysis of single-cell RNA or bulk RNAseq is preferred. Demonstrated proficiency in Linux and statistics languages. Working knowledge of scripting languages, and pipeline development experience. Teamwork and collaboration skills.
