Job Summary
This is a one-year limited term appointments. Continuation will be contingent upon availability of funding.
The individual selected for this position will provide professional research assistance related to catfish genetics.
Essential Functions
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:
*Conduct fish culture, fish feeding, spawning, egg incubation, feeding, animal welfare checks, water quality maintenance, seining, move aerators and dissolved oxygen checks.
*Inspect fish culture facilities and conduct basic molecular analyses.
*Collect and analyze data, maintain genetics records, follow IACUC protocols, stocking, and harvesting.
*Assist with purchasing supplies, chemicals, and maintaining all systems and related equipment.
*Assist with maintaining lab organization and cleanliness and training others in molecular techniques and trouble shooting.
*Maintain and operate recirculating systems, basic vehicle maintenance, isolate DNA, conduct PCR analysis and additional molecular procedures.
*Fish processing
*Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements for Additional Job Levels
Research Assistant II: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Fisheries, Biology, or closely related field and 2 years of experience in research practices and protocols related to fish culture and/or basic molecular genetics.
