MSLOC Assistant Professor of Instruction (Non-Tenure)

NORTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY'S Master of Science in Learning and Organizational Change (MSLOC) program invites applicants for a non-tenure track faculty appointment in Learning and Organizational Change at the assistant professor level. We seek a scholar-practitioner who will serve as a faculty member in the department and leader of our Leading Equity and Inclusion in Organizations Certificate (LEIOC) and related curriculum. This requires expertise in talent management and organizational effectiveness, as well as justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion in organizations. Possible areas of focus might include: measuring employee engagement, culture, and change (including social network analysis); agility and evidence-based approaches to change management; cross-cultural leadership and competencies; or, other areas relevant to next-generation organizational development and design justice  

Candidates must have a Ph.D. or Ed.D. in a related field (e.g., I-O psychology, organizational behavior, organizational development, sociology, etc.) and demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching. Applicants should have applicable experience as a practitioner and prior teaching and/or facilitation experience. Applicable practitioner experience examples include, but are not limited to, human capital or management consulting, talent management, organizational change, and DEI leadership.

The successful candidate will be expected to develop a program of scholarly research in addition to serving as a faculty member and LEIOC leader. MSLOC courses are taught on evenings and weekends, utilizing a range of technologies to engage students during and between class meetings. Our faculty also are expected to play a substantive role in the MSLOC program by assisting with program strategic planning, curriculum design, student advising, adjunct faculty development, and by actively engaging with students and alumni in our community. Successful applicants will be extraordinary teachers and mentors. They will bring not only deep knowledge of learning and organizational change, but also passion in their desire to convey that knowledge to our students in the classroom (whether that be in-person, hybrid, and online) by creating environments that motivate students to engage, collaborate, learn, and apply their learning to their careers and for the benefit of our society.

The School of Education and Social Policy (SESP) has approximately 400 undergraduates and 300 graduate students total. We teach our community of 140 full-time and part-time graduate students how to be effective leaders of learning and change in complex environments across a wide range of industries. The MSLOC curriculum is built around our pillars of learning & performance (individual, team and organizational learning and effectiveness), change & design (strategic change management, designing change, leading global change), networks & strategy (organization design, culture, engagement, knowledge creation and sharing, strategic thinking) and research & practice (research methods, measurement, analysis, consulting, and coaching). MSLOC classes and events are held in the evenings and on weekends, taught primarily in hybrid format. Our students have an average of 12 years of work experience, and we draw students from across the United States through our innovative hybrid course design. Our students pursue full master’s degrees as well as graduate certificates in Organizational & Leadership Coaching, Designing for Organizational Effectiveness, and Leading Equity and Inclusion in Organizations. Most of our students are employed by corporations and consulting firms, specializing in organizational development and effectiveness, change management, talent management, and other human-centric roles.
