General Position Summary:
The Salesforce Senior Software Engineer position will work closely with functional leaders, organizational business units, and subject matter experts in developing solutions based on the Salesforce platform. This position will be responsible for all technical aspects of Salesforce.com, including data migrations, data quality, systems integrations, 3rd party applications, AppExchange products, and custom code. The position is also responsible for designing and maintaining a continuous integration / DevOps tooling for the team to ensure automated, repeatable and optimized processes for development, testing and deployments.
Specific duties & responsibilities
- Ownership of all technical aspects of Salesforce.com, including data migrations, data quality, systems integrations, 3rd party applications, AppExchange products, and custom code
- Responsible for developing in Visualforce, Apex, Salesforce Lightning, HTML, JavaScript, CSS and other technologies to build customized solutions that support business requirements and drive key business decisions
- Technical leadership, setting best practices including integration and application development, deployment, testing (unit and systems), and iterative refinement
- Build continuous integration and delivery processes
- Seek out ways to utilize SFDC to improve processes and productivity, and make recommendations to support an organization scaling at a rapid pace
- Develop processes to integrate Salesforce with internal and external systems using Microsoft SQL Server and other ETL tools as needed
- Define, communicate, and manage a change management (release) process to develop and implement new applications/code and updates to existing applications/code
- Create documentation of technical processes as well as systems that the team can benefit from
- Provide design guidance and mentorship for developers on the team
Job Scope/Complexity:
Responsible for full life-cycle of large/long-term highly complex projects. Typically manages multiple projects of varying complexities. Based on expert technical knowledge, skills and experience, develops broad-based solutions involving multifaceted technologies, and business processes. Leads overall strategy, design & architecture for solutions.
Develop new solutions for the university using the Salesforce platform, help build competency in this environment among other members of the technical staff and maintain and improve existing Salesforce platform-based solutions. Scope includes, but is not limited to development of University’s Digital Experience Platform (DXP)

ANALYSIS AND REQUIREMENTS GATHERING
- Define highly complex business/clinical/education problems by meeting with clients to observe and understand current processes and the issues related to those processes. Provide written documentation of findings to share with the client and other IT colleagues.
- Gather highly complex system requirements by meeting with clients and researching existing technology to understand the business requirements and possible solutions for new applications.

Required Education:
- Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Information Technology, Electronic Engineering, or a related field.
- Additional experience may be substituted for education.
- Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits or 18 graduate degree credits = 1 year of experience. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college coursework may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.
Required Experience:
- Six years of related work experience with computer systems and applications.
- Additional education may substitute for experience.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (KSA’s):
- Solid understanding of and detailed experience with Salesforce.com architecture and API
- Detailed experience writing Lightning, Visualforce and Apex classes and triggers
- Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SQL, Object Oriented Programming, HTTP/REST based web services
- Experience using Salesforce data tools: Data Loader, Force.com IDE or IlluminatedCloud, SFDX and CI/CD tools
- Strong understanding of test-driven development practices including unit, integration and automated end to end testing.
- Strong understanding of relational databases
- Demonstrative success with multiple Salesforce.com integration projects
- Experience integrating Salesforce.com with other applications via real-time, batch, sync/async
- Experience with enterprise cloud integration technologies
- Strong business analysis and functional experience, including requirements gathering, creating/deploying solutions to end users
- Experience working in an Agile software development environment
- Strong attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills
- Strong verbal/written communication and data presentation skills, including an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams
