Position Summary:

The primary role of this position is to provide administrative support to the BerbeeWalsh Department of Emergency Medicine(DEM), University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health (UW SMPH). The department is composed of 50+Faculty Physicians, 36 Residents, 18+ Advanced Practice Providers, and a growing number of staff members. The incumbent will perform administrative duties to meet Faculty, Department, Hospital, and UW Health goals. This position will assist Faculty and Department Leadership in successful performance of the departmental clinical, teaching, administrative, and research activities. Responsibilities include constant tracking, prioritizing, organizing, and communicating of multiple ongoing initiatives at various stages of progress. The position requires outstanding administrative, organizational, interpersonal, and computer skills, as well as the ability to work independently and proactively. The position must interface with both internal and external stakeholders, and a high level of professionalism is expected.

This position functions under limited supervision, reporting to the Department Leadership. Work direction and guidance will also be provided by individual physicians and staff.

Required:
1. Outstanding interpersonal skills as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills.
2. Excellent command of spoken and written English, grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
3. Ability to conduct literature reviews as needed.
4. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with residents, providers, and staff in all aspects.
5. Effective problem solving skills.
6. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage diverse assignments simultaneously in a fast-paced, challenging, and stimulating environment.
7. Ability to independently prioritize work; follow through and complete tasks in a timely manner.

Preferred:
1. Previous administrative work experience in an office setting or clinic, and/or education in medical administrative support or similar field is preferred.
2. Proficient use of Microsoft Office programs, such as Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Vizio, Survey Monkey, and Word.
Proficiency with email, internet, and other computer skills preferred.

Work Schedule:

Typical office hours are Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Schedule flexible to the meet the needs of the Department. Attendance expected at residency special events held outside of work hours.
