Position Summary:

University Housing is divided into five main departments: Administration, Dining & Culinary Services, Residence Hall Facilities, Residence Life, and University Apartments. We operate nineteen residence halls and three apartment communities across the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus, providing a home to over 7,800 undergraduate students, and serving over 3,000 graduate students, academic staff, postdoctoral researchers, faculty, and their families. In addition, we manage seven dining venues across campus, and provide housing for conference groups and youth camps throughout the summer months.

This position is responsible for the operation of mechanical, HVAC, plumbing maintenance and refrigeration systems in a group of buildings. Responsibilities include: diagnosing building mechanical problems and ensuring satisfactory operation of building systems; identifying, correcting, reporting and communicating building operational and maintenance needs; performing repairs on equipment; performing scheduled and unscheduled preventative maintenance actions on equipment; set priorities for repairs and maintenance to meet deadlines.

All duties should be performed in accordance with the Division of Housing's customer care model.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

A minimum of 2 years relevant maintenance experience, or equivalent combination of training and experience, is required. 3 years of relevant maintenance experience is preferred.

Additional Information:

English proficiency required with one or more of the following abilities: ability to speak, read, write, and/or understand verbal instructions in English.

A criminal background check will be conducted on all finalist(s).

This position requires long periods of standing, walking and frequent lifting of objects weighing approximately 50 ? 60 pounds.

Some HVAC/Refrigeration Specialist positions have requirements in addition to the physical requirements. This additional requirement may include a driver's license, which meets UW Risk Management standards.

The primary hours for this position are between 7:00 am - 5:30 pm.

Multiple HVAC/Refrigeration Specialist vacancies may be available. Some positions require on-call or weekend rotations. Schedule will be determined upon hire.
