Position Summary:

The Murtaza Lab Manager position is housed in the Center for Human Genomics and Precision Medicine and based in the Division of Surgical Oncology, in the Department of Surgery in the UW-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health. The lab is focused on developing novel genomics-enabled diagnostics for cancer patients. The incumbent will join an existing team of molecular biologists and computational scientists and be responsible for providing administrative leadership in the laboratory to enable cutting-edge cancer genomics research. In addition, they will implement and develop molecular methods for blood and urine sample processing, DNA and RNA isolation, preparation and analysis of next-generation sequencing libraries, quantitative PCR, digital PCR and other related technologies for analysis of nucleic acids from tissue samples and body fluid samples. They will utilize, implement, adapt and develop manual and automated robotic protocols for molecular analyses.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

A Master's degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or related discipline.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

2-3 years of work experience after Masters, in a genomics or molecular biology laboratory.

Required:
-Knowledge and experience with laboratory methods in genomics and molecular biology.
-Demonstration of effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred:
-Experience in cancer genomics or biomarker development.
-Project or laboratory management.

Additional Information:
