Summary

Seeking Urology Assistant Professor, Tenure Track; subspecialty Male Reproductive Medicine and Surgery

Job Responsibilities:

Assistant Professor (tenure track) expectations include:

• Being responsible for providing clinical care at departmental clinical practice sites, and at the affiliated hospitals of Baylor College of Medicine (as assigned by the Chair), maintaining an efficient and productive clinical practice, holding and maintaining permanent, valid and unrestricted licenses to provide patient care in the State of Texas, and complying with BaylorMedCare credentialing criteria.

• Developing a productive, high-quality practice within the BCM Faculty Group Practice, focusing on the subspecialty area as noted above, and also involving General Urology activity to support the needs of the Department, the hospital clinical services, and the educational programs of the Department and the College.

• Participating fully in faculty on-call systems at all hospital affiliates.

In addition to the above standard expectations of an Assistant Professor of Urology, Tenure-Track, specifically for this subspecialty recruitment, these additional details are relevant:

• Expected to conduct clinic within the Baylor College of Medicine FGP at least 1-2 sessions per week with designated days in the OR to pursue FGP practice activities.

• Pursue scheduled clinic and OR time at one or more of the affiliated public hospitals – as agreed to with the Chair - either at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Hospital and/or Harris Health, Ben Taub Hospital.

• Applicant will work closely with the Department Chair and the Division Director to further the academic and clinical development of the Male Reproductive Medicine and Surgery subspecialty practice in the Department.

• Will be expected to take weekend department call per Department policies, as well as hospital consult call and ER call for the affiliated hospital(s).

• Applicant will be allowed/encouraged/supported to spend up to 30-50% scheduled daytime effort on research (to be agreed upon with the Department Chair), with appropriate support to conduct a robust clinical and laboratory research program.

• Applicant will actively pursue independent research grant funding support from the NIH and other relevant granting agencies, to support his/her research program.

• Applicant will pursue the credentials to provide leadership and assume a director level position in the Department Clinical Testing laboratories.

• Participate in activities in the other Baylor College of Medicine affiliate hospitals, and further developing the subspecialty of Male Reproductive Medicine and Surgery, as to be defined in concert with the Department Chair and the Division Director.

Job Qualifications:

• Completed a U.S. Urology Residency Program and Fellowship programs/training in male reproductive medicine certified by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education

• Must have license to practice medicine in the State of Texas

• Advanced scientific training and credentials such as a PhD in relevant area of scientific work is desirable but not required

• Must be Board Certified/eligible by the American Board of Urology Focusing on several areas of academic activity, including the initiation of a robust research program and securing external grant funding, pursuing educational contributions such as training and mentoring medical students, residents and fellows, and participation in departmental and BCM programs and committees.

• Active participation in national and international academic scientific organizations and programs will be expected.

• Obtaining hospital credentialing at the primary Baylor College of Medicine teaching hospitals, including Baylor-St. Luke’s Medical Center, the MEDVAMC, Ben Taub Hospital, and TCH, as well as at CHI-St. Luke’s Sugarland Hospital.
