Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree and three years of full-time work experience.
  • Experience working with students, parents/guardians, and university constituents.
  • Experience organizing, implementing, and evaluating programs or events.
  • Experience working with a variety of technology platforms and social media tools.
  • Excellent written communication skills as demonstrated in the application materials.
License/Certification Required Essential Duties and Responsibilities

As part of the Office of the Dean of Students team, the Program Director of Parent & Family Services is responsible for the creation, development, implementation, marketing and administration of a comprehensive parent and family program.

Responsibilities of the position include:

  • Supervise, coordinate and respond to the day-to-day operations and administrative functions of the Office of Parent and Family Services.
  • Work collaboratively with the Office of Orientation in the development of a comprehensive orientation program for students, parents and families including assisting in the selection of Student Orientation Undergraduate Leaders ( SOULS ).
  • Coordinate communication between the University and family members of currently enrolled students.
  • Serve as a liaison and resource for all Appalachian State University parents and family members.
  • Collaborate with other University constituents to provide programs and services to parents and incoming students.
  • Manage, prepare and lead the Parent and Family Resource Center in the event of an emergency requiring the space to be activated.
  • Manage special projects and constituent services for family members.
  • Manage the Parent and Family Services website and other social media.
  • Develop and manage the budget for Parent and Family Services.
  • Provide direct support to students and parents including consultation, policy clarification, and support services.
  • Develop and manage opportunities for Parents & Family members to volunteer for campus events which may include open house, parent informational panels, and other events as needed.
  • Lead and leverage planning, assessment, and evaluation for Parent & Family Services to continuously improve programs, services, and outcomes.
Suggested Salary Range $55,000 - $59,000 Physical Demands of Position

General office environment.
