Summary

Baylor College of Medicine’s Scott Department of Urology and the BCM Faculty Group Practice (FGP) are seeking to hire a full-time, board-certified, fellowship- trained urologic trauma surgeon.

The Scott Department of Urology is renowned for high quality, personalized patient care; nationally recognized research in the area of urologic trauma; and a strong commitment to the education of future physicians and healthcare providers.

This position includes:

• An established Urology Department dedicated to professional growth and advancement of faculty

• A dynamic patient focused clinical practice that offers sub- specialty care in Urology

• Daily resident interaction and active participation in all aspects of the professional education of learners In the clinical setting, in the OR at our affiliated hospitals.

Job Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement plans to ensure comprehensive, timely, and high quality patient care services with maximum operating efficiency.

• Participate in college, hospital, and community outreach activities to promote the Department of Urology and BCM.

• Ensure safe and effective care to patients adhering to policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications, including time management, supply management, productivity, and accuracy of practice.

• Promote individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency

• Provide Urology call coverage for Harris Health System and Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center

• Support department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization.

• Serve as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced faculty, staff, and learners.

• Attend required department, college, and hospital professional meetings.

Job Qualifications:

Position Qualifications:

• Medical degree from an accredited medical school.

• License to practice medicine in the State of Texas.

• Completion of orthopedic surgery residency training and trauma fellowship training from programs certified by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education or equivalent.

• Board Certified/Eligible by the American Board of Urology

• Demonstrates expertise in patient care and male trauma and reconstruction

• Experience providing medical care within an academic setting or equivalent practice.

• Desire to teach residents, medical students, and other learners

• Willingness and ability to utilize an electronic medical record, EPIC preferred.

• Evidence of effective communication skills in a collaborative group practice environment
