The Department of Biological Sciences at Columbia University invites applications for a full-time Lecturer in Discipline to start Fall 2021. Responsibilities will include co-teaching the first semester of an Introductory cell and molecular Biology course, directing the recitation section program of at least one term of this two-semester course, co-teaching one semester of genetics, and teaching a one-semester upper-level undergraduate lab or lecture course for Biology majors. There will also be opportunities to contribute to the evolution and leadership of the undergraduate program in biology.

 

Minimum Degree Required:      

Ph.D. in Biological Sciences or similar field

 

Minimum Qualifications :

Completion of all PhD requirements by the time of the appointment; post-doctoral research experience. Candidates should have a strong appreciation for evidence-based deductions, quantitative analyses and molecular mechanisms. Candidates should also have the ambition to promote curiosity, encourage independent thinking and challenge a talented pool of students to think logically and rigorously.

 

Preferred Qualifications

Teaching experience preferred.
