Associate Director of the Children's Learning & Care Center
Working Title: Associate Director of the Children's Learning & Care Center Official Title: Associate Director, Child Care (M) Employment Class: Non-instructional academic staff FTE: 1.0 Compensation: $50,286 - $53,783, depending on qualifications FLSA Status: Exempt Terms of Employment: Annual, 12-month, fixed-term renewable Position Summary: This individual serves as part of the UW Oshkosh Children’s Learning and Care Center Administrative team. This position will include coordinating general office operations in conjunction with the Center Director and being responsible for supervising the Food Service Assistant, Office Associate, and collecting and submitting hiring paperwork to Human Resources for childcare assistants. The Associate Director will assist the Director in the supervision of the professional teaching staff and assure the completion of Center financial tasks. In addition to the above responsibilities, this person is responsible for providing program support including onsite instructional support, mentoring, planning, and coaching to the professional teaching staff and childcare assistants to enhance the quality of early care and education programs within the center. Develops partnerships with local school districts and campus education programs and performs related duties as assigned. Responsibilities
25% Monitor student childcare aide hours and assist in the ongoing revision of training plans and the training of new teaching and childcare staff. Assist the Director with maintaining up-to-date job descriptions on Handshake and monitoring active and inactive status. Collect and maintain all required paperwork (background checks, fingerprinting, transcripts, staff health report, etc.). Add new hires to university payroll, schedule work hours, and supervise childcare aid attendance and absences.
25% Assist the Director in the completion of all Center financial tasks. Receipt and record all cash payments. Make weekly deposits. Prepare the ACH/EFT bank withdrawal. Work with the Center Director in monitoring the status of accounts receivable. Assist with the compilation of budget figures and the yearly preparation of the budget and budget presentation to the Segregated Fee Committee. Monitor budget status and report to Director monthly. Monitor accreditation qualifications to maintain Youngstar 5-star rating. Assist in the process of monitoring and implementing all changes and updates in State Licensing and National Accreditation requirements to keep program up-to-date and in compliance. Research and assist in the acquisition and administration of grant monies.
25% Work collaboratively with school district personnel to facilitate partnerships. Assist in planning and delivering a developmentally appropriate professional development model. Promote reflective practices. Model successful early childhood teaching strategies and techniques. Promote safety standards. Assist in the development and implementation of program goals, curriculum and conduct demonstration lessons. Disseminate research-based instructional materials and programs. Prepare and maintain a variety of records and reports related to assigned activities. Maintain confidentiality of children, families, and providers involved in the program. Attend and participate in meetings, trainings and conferences as assigned.
15% Communicate professionally, representing the Children's Center, with Center parents and prospective parents, the University community and any others having contact with the Children's Center. Work with the Children's Center staff including participation in weekly staff meetings and explore opportunities for staff continuing education training. Monitor professional staff files to ensure they are complete. Substitute for classroom teachers when needed. Open and close the facility as needed, and maintain established standards of operation when acting in the capacity of Center Director.
10% Responsible for general office operations in conjunction with the Center Director. Assist the Director with assuring that the Center is following all licensing rules and accreditation standards. Assist the Director in preparation for the bi-annual re-licensing and the five-year renewal of national accreditation.
Qualifications Required: 1. Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related degree in the study of Early Childhood.
2. Reached at least Level 12 in the Registry
3. Extensive experience working in a childcare setting.
4. Ability to supervise student childcare aide staff
5. Strong administrative and analytical skills that allow for the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment
6. Experience in assisting with preparation and monitoring yearly budgets
7. Knowledge of basic accounting and accounts receivable practices
8. Ability to handle confidential information in an ethical and professional manner
9. Communication skills to professionally communicate with Center parents and prospective parents, the University Community and any others having contact with the Children's Center.
10. Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Preferred: 1. Master's degree in a related field.
2. Extensive knowledge of child development, programs and licensing requirements principles, theories, practices, methods, and techniques used in early childhood classroom instruction.
3. Knowledge of Infant Toddler Foundations, Preschool Learning Foundations, Curriculum Frameworks
4. Knowledge of classroom procedures which promote appropriate conduct and motivation for learning, and child guidance principles and practices
5. Excellent interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy
6. Current knowledge of trends and research concerning the growth and development of children, and performance-based assessment practices.
6. Knowledge of health and safety practices and rules.
7.Knowledge of applicable state and federal codes, laws, and regulations.
