Digitization Manager - Anthropology Lab

Position Summary:
The Alfred W. Bowers Anthropology Lab is seeking applications for a full-time Digitization Manager to manage the creation processes for Crabtree Lithic Comparative Collection. This position is also responsible for supervising three undergraduate students, as well as assisting with other grant project deliverables as assigned. Dates of employment will be 8/1/21-12/31/2022.


Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- Experience handling technical aspects of a large-scale project
- Experience using scanning and imaging software
- Experience using office software and online applications for tasks such as creating, editing and sharing text, image or other file types
- Experience in studio photography
- Experience with managing multiple projects at the same time
- Experience executing tasks that require attention to detail
- Experience performing complex tasks accurately and following oral and written instructions
- Establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with co-workers and the public


Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Experience managing personnel
- Experience scanning and describing physical and born-digital materials
- Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and willingness to learn more
- Aptitude for learning new technologies
- Familiarity with Excel and similar organizational software products and techniques
- Familiarity with databases and institutional repositories
- Advanced studio photography experience
- Prior knowledge of federal collections management regulations (such as 36CFR79)
- Willingness and ability to learn, comply, and enforce federal collections management regulations (such as 36CFR79)


Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
- Ability to lift, carry, and/or otherwise move materials weighing approximately 30 pounds.
