JOB SUMMARY

The Department of Teacher Education and Foundations seeks a Full-time Multiple Subject Program Coordinator to assume the coordination of the Multiple Subject Credential Program. The MS program coordinator will report directly the Department Chair and indirectly to the Dean of COE. The individual will work closely with the Department Chair, faculty, staff and students. The key duties of the program coordinator include:

1. Prepare all required program documents in a timely manner.
2. Prepare annual program reports with projections of program needs for long range planning.
3. Recommend to the chair budget requests for equipment and materials.
4. Schedule and convene regular program faculty meetings and maintain minutes.
5. Schedule and convene regular program advisory meetings and maintain minutes.
6. Take a leadership role in program development, evaluation, revision of program documents, and responsibility for integrity of program curriculum.
7. Consult with department chair regarding part time program instructors.
8. Conduct, as appropriate, part time faculty orientations for instructors and supervisors, and maintain contact with them.
9. Prepare and submit to the chair the tentative class schedule.
10. Inform faculty of program office hours, to ensure coverage each day of the week.
11. Engage in public relations functions related to the program by maintaining visibility in the college, the University, and the community.
12. Prepare program promotional materials and maintain an updated web site.
13. Provide leadership in the recruitment, selection, and advisement of students.
14. Coordinate required components for the program(s).
15. Attend meetings of the Graduate Council and COE Program Leadership.

Qualified candidates must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring a diverse student population and to working effectively with faculty, staff and students across a wide range of disciplines.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Earned a Ph. D. or Ed. D. or Master's degree in Education
  • Previous experience as a credential teacher in elementary school(s)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to do follow up with students, applicants, faculty and department chair
  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff.
  • Direct experience of managing a program
  • Ability to do critical troubleshooting and problem solving
  • Experience in working with adult and part-time learners

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Earned a Ph. D. or Ed. D. in Education.
  • Has a credential in elementary education.
  • 10 or more years teaching experience at elementary school level.
  • Priority will be given to experience as MS lecturers at COE, CSUSB
  • Successful experience in online teaching
  • Cultural sensitivity and social awareness

Evidence of scholarly activity, publication, and innovation is valued. Evidence of exemplary graduate-level teaching and leadership experience at program level is preferred and should be noted in application.
