St. Mark’s School of Texas seeks a Director of The St. Mark’s Fund to lead its Annual Giving program as a senior member of the Development staff. The St. Mark’s Fund accounts for approximately 11% of the annual budget of the School. The Director of the St. Mark’s Fund is responsible for managing and growing a strategic annual giving program to raise $4M and meet parent and alumni participation goals. The School seeks an entrepreneurial, results-oriented leader to guide the Fund. The Director is responsible for the solicitation of donors and for the day-to-day management of the Fund and key volunteers. Finally, the Director will strengthen the School’s relationship with alumni, parents, and grandparents through systematic outreach, solicitation of donations, and continued volunteer recruitment.

Responsibilities

Leadership of the St. Mark’s Fund

  • Work with the Director of Development to set preliminary St. Mark’s Fund goals each year.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive plan for St. Mark’s Fund support and participation across all constituencies including parents, alumni, parents of alumni, grandparents, and more.
  • Assign potential donors to appropriate staff and volunteer solicitors.
  • Direct all staff activity relating to the St. Mark’s Fund.
  • Use prospect research to determine appropriate targets and solicitation strategies for individuals.
  • Manage the prospect management process including monthly meetings, moves management strategies, and donor segmentation.
  • Work with the advancement services team to develop effective weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for internal and external distribution.
  • Support the process to record and acknowledge gifts effectively and efficiently.
  • Recruit, train, and support the volunteers who demonstrate the interest, ability, and commitment to advance the St. Mark’s Fund.
  • Identify and recruit all volunteer leaders, including the Co-Chairs of the Fund, the Executive Committee, Parent Class Agents, Alumni Class Agents and select Reunion Chairs.
  • Organize St. Mark’s Fund kick-off and orientation and update training materials annually.
  • Provide volunteers with weekly updates.
  • Facilitate and manage all volunteer phone-a-thons and other outreach efforts.
  • Act as an external officer of the Development Office working directly with parent, alumni, and parents of alumni donors.
  • Manage a portfolio of donors and solicit constituents for the St. Mark’s Fund.
  • Work with the Communications team to create all marketing materials, appeal letters, online solicitations, pledge reminders, acknowledgment letters, etc.
  • Implement appropriate donor recognition programs for young alumni and leadership donors to the St. Mark’s Fund.
  • Develop and update a long-term plan for the St. Mark’s Fund, including detailed goals for alumni & parent participation, total dollars raised, volunteer structure, etc.
  • Recruit alumni class leaders and support select alumni reunion classes each year to assure that all classes succeed in reconnecting and maximizing their impact on the School.
  • Support activities, initiatives, and special events sponsored by the Office of Development & Alumni Relations.
  • Write and create messaging for School publications including The PRIDE community magazine and the Annual Report.
  • Partner with the Director of Development to support St. Mark’s Parents’ Association fundraising activities.
  • Manage a team of three direct reports responsible for annual fund, gift processing, and database management activities.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Three to five years of fundraising experience in an educational or philanthropic environment.
  • Proficiency in Raiser’s Edge preferred.
