Job Description:

Provide administrative support to the Assistant Dean for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, including, but not limited to:

  • Assist with diversity, equity, and inclusion strategies, initiatives, policies, and practices for the UF College of Veterinary Medicine.
  • Advise the Assistant Dean of any problems or issues and recommend solutions as needed.
  • Support training efforts including managing registration and coordinating certificate programs.
  • Assist with planning, development and implementation of programs and projects surrounding the topics of multiculturalism, diversity, inclusion, and access.
  • Keep the Assistant Dean informed of events and matters related to the DEI office and projects.
  • Prepare and disseminate correspondence and, when appropriate, prepare responses and/or draft or edit correspondence for the Assistant Dean’s consideration.
  • Assist with maintaining confidential records and communications.
  • Assist with maintaining the calendar for the Assistant Dean, screening phone calls, planning and coordinating meetings, scheduling/coordinating visits of guest speakers, and organizing arrangements for participants in any programs coordinated by the Assistant Dean.
  • Secure, compile, and analyze data. Assist with the preparation and/or editing of reports, presentations, charts, and other materials, as necessary.
  • Coordinate recruitment and professional development trips.
  • Facilitate communication within the multicultural student communities at UF on issues of common concern and represent these various points of view to the Assistant Dean.
  • Act as a liaison between the Assistant Dean and DEI groups within the college and on main campus.
  • Coordinate with the Associate Dean to administer the annual budget. Monitor expenditures and maintain fiscal records.
  • Manage calendars of DEI activities in and outside the College of Veterinary Medicine.


Provide administrative support to the Precollegiate Programs, including, but not limited to:

  • Assist with the planning, development and implementation of preK-12 programs and services (e.g., Gator Vet Camp, Vet Start Mentoring Program, and This Is How We ROLE).
  • Assist in the planning, development and implementation of outreach programs and projects.
  • Develop materials for marketing the veterinary profession to elementary, secondary, and postsecondary students.
  • Work as a liaison for student organizations to encourage attendance at cultural activities and programs on campus, while serving as a referral and resource to student organizations and campus groups regarding issues of multiculturalism, equity and access.
  • Offer support services and facilitate collective efforts and co-sponsorship of programs and services within the UF community, as requested.
  • Work with other UF offices and student organizations to support their services and facilitate collaboration on education and community building efforts and programs.
  • Coordinate with the Associate Dean to administer the annual budget. Monitor expenditures and maintain fiscal records.


Provide support to the office procedures and operations along with other duties as assigned by the Assistant Dean of DEI and Director of Community Engagement and Diversity Outreach.

Expected Salary:

$15.00 per hour

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in the area of diversity, inclusion and social justice.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Personnel Administration, Counseling, Social Justice Education, or related field preferred.
  • Demonstrated programming and event planning experience.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to respectfully work with people from different backgrounds, experiences, races, ethnicities, genders, sexual orientation, and perspectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a variety of constituencies and publics, individually and in groups.
  • Ability to organize and work independently on programmatic assigned tasks.
  • Availability and willingness to attend student group meetings.
  • Willingness to take instruction/guidance from supervisor.
  • Must enjoy working with animals.
