Senior Graphic Designer

Description/Job Summary
  • Experience and exposure in developing marketing brands and creative direction.
  • Knowledge of pre-press issues is a plus.
  • Must be familiar with all aspects of PC and Mac computers, including all peripheral equipment associated with a Mac.
  • Proficient in software packages associated with the PC environment (Acrobat, Microsoft Word & Excel) and in the Mac environment (InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Type Manager, Adobe Acrobat), Mac and PC graphic file formats; .jpeg, .eps, .tiff, .pcx, and .gif files).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to present ideas in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to communicate with people from a broad range of ages and socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, vendors, consultants, and contractors.
  • Demonstrated ability to use sound judgement in decision-making and problem solving with strong organizational skills and ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision.
  • Ability to set goals, prioritize and problem solve are essential.
  • Skilled at adjusting priorities and re-distributing work assignments to meet changing deadlines.
Responsibilities/Duties
  • Participate in marketing strategy and planning activities to support marketing and college development.
  • Ensure department is current with multimedia, software, and computer graphic technology
  • Establish measures to monitor and improve client satisfaction.
  • Serve as a liaison between Marketing department and internal client groups on a wide variety of programs and projects.
  • Maintain relationships with vendors for printing, production, photography, and other design-related services.
  • Coordinate and apply user-centered design principles to improve the workflow, expand the functionality, and enhance the visual appeal of print materials, digital designs, websites and social media assets.
  • Inspire and guide other graphic designers in the pursuit of unique creative designs implemented to the highest quality.
  • Applies the results from user research to create and improve designs and functionality of designs.
  • Address short term, time-sensitive requests quickly and efficiently.
  • Collaborates with other project leads, contributors, and team members to set clear goals for the design team.
  • Revise/edit all client-initiated materials.
  • Track existing job status at client or supervisor’s request.
  • Traffic jobs requests into a Master List and ensure timely follow-up with client.
  • Generate production schedules.
  • Research and implements innovative ideas to improve design quality, timelines, and delivery costs.
  • Design wireframes, mockups, and prototypes.
  • Work with photographer to obtain creative photos that meet design project specifications.
  • Accountable for project quality targets and the results achieved.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in graphic design, publication design, visual communications, web development, print and electronic media, marketing ore related design field and at least five (5) years of equivalent experience in the graphic design industry. Experience working with photography and video is requested but not required.
