About the Opportunity:
The Plasticity in Neurodevelopment (PINE) Lab at Northeastern University, led by Professor Laurel Gabard-Durnam, is seeking a full-time Research Coordinator to work on a series of projects examining neurodevelopmental mechanisms linking experiences of stress and adversity to social and affective learning. One project focuses on learning across infancy using EEG neuroimaging while another examines consequences of developmental learning in adulthood with fMRI. The person in this role will gain experience with all aspects of the research process, which could serve as a launch pad to graduate studies. This role and PINE Lab are part of the Center for Cognitive and Brain Health at Northeastern University, a community of 5 labs examining mental and physical health across the lifespan. Primary responsibilities of the position include: (1) community engagement and relationship building; (2) recruitment and screening of participating families; (3) acquiring data from infants, caregivers, and young adults using behavioral, biological, and brain imaging techniques; (4) preparing applications and interacting with the Institutional Review Board; (5) data management and quality control; (6) manuscript preparation and authorship; and (7) general administrative duties to maintain the workings of the laboratory. B.A., B.S., or equivalent preferred. Background in developmental/clinical psychology, neuroscience, or a related field. The coordinator must possess excellent organizational and communication skills, and must demonstrate the ability to work independently. Hours will vary week-to-week and will sometimes include evenings and weekends.
Experience with EEG or fMRI data acquisition and analysis is not necessary, but helpful. A two-year commitment is preferred. Spanish fluency or competency is helpful. Experience with data collection in infants or populations that have experienced adversity is preferred
