Hodges University is a private, not-for-profit, regionally accredited university located in southwest Florida and is regionally accredited by SACSCOC and approved as a Level III institution offering associate, baccalaureate, and master’s degrees. AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:  The Program Director is responsible for the general oversight and development of faculty and curriculum for the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program.  The Program Director assists in handling student program inquiries, academic and career guidance to students, course scheduling, curriculum, and text review, budgeting, hiring faculty, orientation, and evaluation of faculty and faculty training. The Program Director also teaches a reduced class load.

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  1. To be courteous to students at all times and service the needs of the students to prepare them for the professional world of work and participation in contemporary life.

 

  • To prepare and instruct classes as assigned by the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs.
  •  

  • To post and maintain office hours in accordance with school policy.
  •  

  • To supervise Program Academic Advising to students by monitoring student course selection and the registration process.
  •  

  • To attend course selection and scheduling meetings as required and assist in course selection and scheduling of classes and instructors each semester.
  •  

  • To review program syllabi for each course within the program each semester.
  •  

  • To develop program objectives and assessment methods for program improvement.
  •  

  • To select the textbook and materials for each course offered within the program annually and submit a list of those selections to the Bookstore Manager in a timely manner.
  •  

  • To review the curriculum as needed, but at least once every three years, and provide a report including any suggested changes to the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs.
  •  

  • To conduct department meetings with instructors, attend graduation ceremonies, and participate as directed by the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs.
  •  

  • To participate on the Planning Council and implement the institutional effectiveness processes for effective planning and assessment of program goals and objectives, including those required by the University’s regional accreditor (SACSCOC) and the programmatic accreditor (CACREP).
  •  

  • To evaluate program faculty as needed, but at least every other year, and provide a copy of the evaluation to the Office of Academic Affairs.
  •  

  • To advise the Admissions Department of changes within the program and/or the career/profession.
  •  

  • To conduct advisory board meetings as needed, but at least once a year, and actively participate with the board.
  •  

  • To prepare a proposed budget each year for the following year and submit it to the Executive Vice President of Administration on or before May 1, or as otherwise directed.
  •  

  • To assist the Registrar with registration activities.
  •  

  • To perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, including but not limited to, committees, meetings, and public relations.
  •  

    1. To handle inquiries from prospective students and provide information and guidance.

     

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

         

    Candidates must have earned doctoral degrees in counselor education, preferably from a CACREP-accredited program, or have related doctoral degree and have been employed as full-time faculty member in a counselor education program for a minimum of one full academic year before July 1, 2013.  The candidate must also be licensed in the state in which they are located.  Candidates should be familiar with the CACREP standards and have a working knowledge of how these standards serve as a guideline to course content.  Clinical practice experience in the field as well as 3 years of experience teaching predominately graduate courses in counseling education at the university level is required.
