Job Description:

The Coordinator of Accessibility Services is a temporary, 30-40 hour a week position within the Morton Family Learning Center responsible for developing and providing reasonable accommodations for students with disabilities. In addition, the Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and implementing programs, services, assessments, policies, procedures for a comprehensive accessibility program. The position reports to the Director of the Morton Family Learning Center within Student Success Programs & Career Planning as a critical member of Enrollment & Retention. The position is for twelve weeks starting mid-late June, 2021.

Job responsibilities will include: 

  • Determining and implementing reasonable accommodations for students with disabilities;
  • Counseling and advising students regarding academic goals, accommodations, and academic progress;
  • Collaborating with Success & Career Advisors, faculty, and staff regarding student accommodations;
  • Ensuring compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504, Section 508;
  • Providing support for faculty and staff on pertinent disability topics;
  • Maintaining confidential information and records;
  • Overseeing Testing Services which includes administration of tests and management of Testing Services;
  • Maintain policies and procedures;
  • Work closely with the Arch Learning Community (program for students with Learning Differences) to evaluate documentation, recruitment and evaluation;
  • Other duties as assigned. 


 

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, Learning Disabilities, Psychology, Special Education, Higher Education Administration or related field;
  • COVID-19 vaccination, required:
  • Prior experience with implementing legally mandated accommodations in higher education;
  • Experience with assistive technologies (e.g., JAWS, Zoom text, Dragon, text-to-speech software) and document conversion software (e.g., Adobe, Omni page);
  • Understanding of all relevant legislation - Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504, and related standards, and translation of legislation into policy;
  • Experience working with the needs of students with disabilities in higher education;
  • Must have strong communication skills to be able to build relationships with faculty, staff, students and families;
  • Familiar with using software such as Accommodate to document, track and deliver accommodations.

The Dean College Athletics Department is a Division III member of the NCAA and competes as a member of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC), Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC), and complies with all NCAA Division III Rules and Regulations.
