Kalamazoo College invites applications for a two-year visiting position at the assistant professor level in the Anthropology and Sociology Department. We are seeking a sociologist or social geographer whose work focuses on environmental issues and survey research methods. Geographical area is open.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated a high aptitude for and interest in undergraduate teaching and a commitment to the liberal arts. A completed Ph.D. or evidence that it will be completed by September 1, 2021 is required. We especially encourage applications from candidates whose intellectual and pedagogical approaches to the discipline will be effective in attracting and retaining historically underrepresented students. The successful applicant will demonstrate a strong commitment to working with students, faculty, and staff from diverse social, cultural, and economic backgrounds.  Salary is competitive and consistent with level of experience.  Kalamazoo College is on the trimester system, and the teaching load is two courses per trimester.

Kalamazoo College is a nationally known liberal arts college of approximately 1,450 students. The academic calendar includes three ten-week teaching terms with a month-long December break.
