Teaching Assistant Professor, Interior Architecture - Davis College
The School of Design and Community Development in West Virginia University’s Davis College of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Design ( http://davis.wvu.edu/ ) in Morgantown, WV, invites applications for a Teaching Assistant Professor position in the Interior Architecture program. Appointment will begin on August 15, 2021. This is a 9-month, full-time, non-tenure track position with benefits and the opportunity for promotion, though promotion is not required for continued career stability. Teaching faculty are expected to demonstrate excellence in teaching, and ongoing engagement in assessment-based advancement of curriculum and instruction.
Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching – The faculty member may teach undergraduate courses in the following areas: Introductory Interior Architecture Studio and/or Lecture; Interior Architecture Building Systems, Technologies and Construction; Digital Design & Graphics; Advanced Studio; and Finishes, Furnishings, and Fixtures. They will also actively participate in undergraduate and graduate student advising, curriculum development, development of online course content, and the advising of student organizations.
Service – The faculty member will engage in professional outreach activities and actively participate in university, community, and professional service activities. The faculty member will participate in program and school meetings, student advising, and contribute to course, curriculum and program assessment activities. They will also contribute to CIDA accreditation activities as needed.

Required: Candidates must have a terminal masters (e.g. MFA, MID, MArch). In addition, we seek evidence of, or potential for, excellence in teaching undergraduate students, including in courses emphasizing quantitative skills; in developing new courses; in developing, implementing and assessing innovative recruitment and advising initiatives; as well as excellent written and oral communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills.
Preferred: Doctorate in interior design or interior design-related field, preferred. Prefer candidates with NCIDQ certification by appointment date. In addition to the required qualifications, we desire/prefer applicants with professional design experience and proficiency in the application of digital technology to design. Proficiencies should include Revit, AutoCad, and Adobe Creative Cloud.
All required qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.
