The Division of Student Affairs’ role is to enhance and support students learning experience here at UWL . We work closely with faculty, staff, community members, alumni, and most importantly, students to provide quality programs and services which promote learning, leadership, involvement, service, and the celebration of diversity. The Division includes several departments: Campus Child Center, Counseling and Testing, Student Health Center, Intercollegiate Athletics, Recreational Sports, Residence Life, Student Life, University Centers, and the Vice Chancellor & Dean of Students office. The staff of the Division is truly student-centered and concerned about the holistic development of the student.

Position Summary

The Test Center Associate ( TCA ) is responsible for the daily operation of the Test Center by providing administrative and technical support, test administration, and computer troubleshooting while maintaining a high level of customer service, confidentiality, and test security. This position works directly with examinees registered for computer-based exams and reports to the Testing Coordinator/Office Manager and the Director of the Counseling & Testing Center.

The expected work schedule for this position is Thursday through Saturday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (3 day workweek, 8 hours per day). No evening hours are required. As the Test Center returns to full capacity post pandemic, additional hours up to 40 hours per week may be possible

The most successful candidate will have the following:
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Experience with standardized testing, including test security and implementation.
• Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office programs to include Word, Outlook, and Excel, as well as the ability to learn new software systems and databases as needed.
• Ability to demonstrate dependability as reflected in attendance, promptness, and follow-through.
• Ability to function calmly and effectively in a fast-paced environment and be able to work with people who are under stress.
• Ability to work with a diverse clientele and staff and to provide an atmosphere of compassion, respect, and inclusivity.
• Ability to use of sound judgment in dealing with sensitive & secure materials and confidential information.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.

• Office experience using a computer, networks, printer/scanner/fax, and phone.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred.

• Experience with standardized and/or computerized testing or working in a testing environment.

Physical Demands

• Must be able to stand, walk, talk and/or sit for extended periods of time.

• May be asked to travel between offices/buildings on campus.

• Work is generally performed in an interior environment.

Miscellaneous Information

Test company training and certification provided by test companies will be required within six months of hire.

Administer Computer-based Exams

Duties to Support Responsibility

• Manage daily operation of the test center, prepare computer equipment per specified procedures; prepare forms, rosters, handouts & supplements, dry erase boards, scratch paper, and other items used daily in administering both computer-based and paper/pencil exams.

• Greet examinees, complete authentication & registration process, check-in examinees scheduled to test, complete pre-test protocols including required security screenings and identification verification, launch computer-based exams, conduct post-exam check out, and collect any exhibits, supplements, handouts, and scratch paper.

• Consistently and at regular intervals monitor examinees and the test environment, maintain absolute security in accordance with the NCTA Standards & Guidelines ( NATIONAL COLLEGE TESTING ASSOCIATION ), CAS proctor Standards ( COUNCIL FOR THE ADVANCEMENT OF STANDARDS ), ATP / NCTA Proctoring Best Practices as well as test company policy. Maintain absolute security of test center premises at all times, maintain the confidentiality of tests scheduled, test results, and examinee information.

• Resolve testing & technology problems, contacting test providers for technical support when necessary, troubleshoot computer problems, submit incident reports to test providers and document any and all issues that occur during test sessions, report any unresolved issues to the Testing Coordinator.

• Maintain test certification & renew as directed by test vendor, annually at a minimum.

• Assist with testing correspondence and questions on CBT exams as directed by the Testing Coordinator.

- Perform routine cleaning of testing spaces.

- Assist in maintaining testing-related information on the CTC website.
