Position Primary Purpose and General Responsibilities

VCU School of Pharmacy’s Department of Information Technology enthusiastically seeks a candidate for our Senior Information Technology Specialist. The Department of Information Technology strives for excellence in all endeavors, keeping uppermost in mind the importance of the highest quality service to students, faculty, and staff. Guided by VCU School of Pharmacy’s mission and reporting to the Director of Technology, the Senior Information Technology Specialist will lead IT functions for School of Pharmacy’s classrooms and conference rooms, to include, managing all aspects of virtual learning. The incumbent will serve as an expert resource for classroom technologies, virtual learning and e-learning platforms, developing, supporting and leading classroom technology updates and upgrades. This person will work closely with other technology professionals on the team to provide consultative, technical and training support to faculty, staff, and students within the School of Pharmacy community. This incumbent will also manage general information technology inquiries to ensure that our user-base receives swift and appropriate problem resolution, system/data access, and has optimal systems to perform their respective organizational functions. This incumbent will oversee monitoring and maintenance of the support services request queue in our tracking system with an eye on tickets related to technology and equipment used for teaching and video-conferencing. This position serves in a key IT role within the school and is responsible for ensuring the technological success of face to face and online academic programming.

•Demonstrates the ability to problem solve effectively in a classroom environment.

Minimum Hiring Standards

•The School of Pharmacy supports a diverse faculty, staff and student environment. The candidate is required to show demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse environment
•BS / BA required.
•Communicates effectively (written and oral)

•Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve high-level technical issues.

Preferred Hiring Standards

•BS / BA degree concentration in Education, Information Technology, or Business preferred.
•Knowledge of cloud-based software solutions; as well as expertise associated with using the internet as a problem-solving resource.
•Previous experience working with Cisco Codecs, Zoom, Canvas, Poll Everywhere, Examplify, Google Apps, Echo, and other school supported platforms.
•Previous experience with project management and vendor management.
