Position Summary

Candidates must demonstrate expertise in computational cell biology or computational pathology. The successful candidate will have skills in one or several of the following domains: computational genomics, computational proteomics, other “omics”, multi-modality data integration and/or advanced microscopy techniques informing dynamic cell biological systems. Candidates must be able to fuse quantitative data from cell biology or anatomical structural analyses with molecular data for the creation of computationally integrated approaches to complex biological systems. Accurate predictive modeling of cell biological or pathological systems are the desired outcomes. Candidates must have comprehensive knowledge of advanced microscopy fundamentals and applications.

The University at Buffalo, The State University of New York seeks a faculty s (rank appropriate) for a tenure-track position in the Department of Pathology and Anatomical Sciences ( PAS ) (www.smbs.buffalo.edu/path). PAS is in the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences ( SMBS ) at the University at Buffalo (UB).

PAS is undergoing a transformation to integrate anatomy, pathology, and computational data analysis, and seeks a candidate capable of anchoring a novel program in the quantitative modeling and analysis of biological structure and molecular systems.

Opportunities are available to collaborate with scientists, engineers, and clinicians in a multidisciplinary research environment spanning across all Schools of the University as well as the Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Institute, the New York State Center of Excellence in Bioinformatics & Life Sciences, and the newly founded Global Vascular Institute.

Applicants must possess a Ph.D. or MD/Ph.D. in a closely related field. The successful candidate will be expected to establish a research program that trains students at all levels, with collaborations extending throughout various departments and centers within the University and with its partners, and help promote a climate that values and uses diversity in all its forms to make the work of the Department more inclusive and productive. Effective teaching is expected at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must possess a PhD or MD/PhD in a closely related field. Effective teaching is expected at one or more levels.
