Assistant Director, Office of Intercultural and Inclusion Student Services

 

Coastal Carolina University seeks candidates for the Assistant Director position in the Office of Intercultural and Inclusion Student Services.  The Assistant Director is a full-time position and serves as a member of the Intercultural and Inclusion Student Services Team reporting directly to the Director of Intercultural and Inclusion Student Services.

 

Duties include, but are not limited to: develop, organize and execute specific projects, programs and events that support recruitment and retention for students from underserved and marginalized groups; provide advisement and leadership to the Student Navigating and Advising Peers (S.N.A.P.) Peer Mentoring Program; develop academic intervention strategies for students involved with IISS initiatives (African American Initiative for Men, Students Navigating & Advising Peers, Women of Color and Queer@Coastal); serve as department liaison for UNIV 110 courses; supervise office student assistants; and other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements: A bachelor's degree in a related field and experience in a related student service area are required. A master’s degree and at least three (3) years of experience in a University setting are preferred. Significant experience in a diversity and inclusion role in higher education or industry related to student success and administrative and supervisory experience in an office setting at an institution of higher education are preferred.

 

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate academic intervention skills and abilities, creativity, and attention to detail; strong decision-making, organizational, and facilitation/coaching skills, and excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships, with a commitment to work as part of a University-wide community; understanding the unique needs of underrepresented/marginalized student populations, demonstrated commitment to diversity and success in working with diverse student populations to support their academic and social integration into the institution.
