Position Summary:
University of Idaho Extension is seeking applicants for a 12-month, tenure track position as Assistant or Associate Professor, Extension Educator, Livestock and Community Development, Bear Lake County. This position is located in the Bear Lake County Extension office in Montpelier, Idaho and includes the responsibilities to share expertise and actively participate on a collegial livestock team within the Eastern District.

The Extension Educator will have overall leadership and organization for multi-county livestock (60%) and community/leader development (20%) programs. In addition, the Educator will provide leadership and support for the Bear Lake County 4-H Youth Development program (10%) and serve as the chair of Bear Lake County Extension Office (10%).


Minimum Qualifications:
• An earned Masters degree from an accredited institution in animal science, adult and extension education, agricultural science, range science, agricultural business, or a closely related discipline (the required degree(s) must be completed by the date of hire).

• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with people of various social, cultural, economic and education backgrounds. Must be able to recruit, teach, and manage volunteers.

• Computer literacy and effective written and oral communication skills.

• Competence in using technology for program delivery, record keeping and reporting, and team-based communications.


Preferred Qualifications:
• Extension experience in livestock management.

• Ability to adapt research materials for effective oral and written presentations.

• Experience in disseminating results through scholarly outlets.

• Demonstrated skills in organization and management.

• Demonstrated drive and initiative; proven ability to work with people of all socioeconomic levels and backgrounds.

• Supervisory experience and proven ability to lead and mentor others.


Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
• Willing and able to travel and adjust to a flexible schedule (i.e. participate in evening and weekend programs). Must have a valid driver’s license and have the ability to meet University of Idaho requirements for operating a University/rental vehicle.

• The successful candidate must obtain an Idaho pesticide consultants license during their first year of hire.
